Worm Quartet is a Rochester, NY-based band that forcibly staples punk and electronica together and throws them into a blender with hysterically twisted lyrics. They have been featured repeatedly on the Dr. Demento show, with many "Funny Top Five" appearances, and one of their songs (the anti-drummer anthem "Frank's Not In The Band Anymore") was the second most requested song of 2002! Influences include Atom & His Package, The Meatmen, "Weird Al" Yankovic, M.O.D., Bloodhound Gang, The Ramones, Descendents/All, The Freeze, The Cars, Screeching Weasel, KMFDM, Bad Religion, They Might Be Giants, and Jim Steinman.
"Stupid Video Game Music" includes such bizarre tunes as the irreverent paranoid prayer "Dear God," a cover of Atom & His Package's ultra-silly "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Lib," the synthed-up hardcore "Too Fat For The Pit," a wiener dog-inspired rant entitled "Get A Real Dog," and an inexplicably bizarre tribute to the best video game of all time called "Pac-Man Is Naked And So Should You." The sole member of Worm Quartet, a 6'4" 300-lb. bemulleted maniac who insists on being called "Shoebox," is responsible for just about everything on this CD. By day, he poses as a mild-mannered software engineer. The CD is currently available through the Worm Quartet web site (www.wormquartet.com) for a mere $6.00. Reviews, interviews, pictures, news, and bunches of free mp3s are also available on this site. |
